WASCO have been actively involved in watershed development programmes since from 1995. Organization started its work from western part of the Rajasthan which is almost dry & desert. Rainfall in this area is irregular & erratic, so team of WASCO thought that Organization should do work mainly on rain water harvesting i.e. on watershed approach. Since from 1995 WASCO executed ten micro watershed projects under DDP & EAS in the catchment area of Apeshwar river Ramsin in Jaswantpura block of Jalore Distt with active participation of watershed committees/ watershed association & village community. The role of WASCO (PIA) was like as catalyst for strengthening of watershed committees. The district collector Jalore awarded WASCO on 26 Jan 2005 for their excellence work on watershed development.WASCO also awarded by Honrable Governor Gujrat Smt. Kamala Benewal with IV Dalmia Pani Paryavaran Puraskar for excellence work in the field of conservation of water & Environment at Chirawa, distt. Jhunjhunu on 12 January 2011. Rows of recycled plastic bottles are arranged horizontally and filled with soil, serving as makeshift planters. Each bottle is connected to a drip irrigation system made from additional plastic bottles suspended above, providing water to the plants growing inside. The setup appears to be in an outdoor garden area with dirt paths and green vegetation in the background.
